Many traditional sports facilities fail to reflect how girls and young women want to spend their time, move and participate. The Danish initiative Space for Girls explored what happens when their needs and experiences become the starting point for facility development. Drawing on six development projects, the presentation shares practical lessons on user involvement and on creating safe social settings, informal opportunities for movement and spaces where participation does not depend on performance.
