Developing sports facilities through transformation rather than replacement

Changing needs do not always require a completely new building. Through two concrete projects, the session explores how refurbishment, extension and transformation can unlock new value from existing resources. The redevelopment of Ulvsunda Sports Centre in Stockholm is placed alongside an international project from 4a Architekten, showing how architectural innovation can support more flexible, resource-efficient and sustainable sports environments.
