Lighting equipment must be suitable for high humidity,moisture levels and high ambient temperatures, combined with resistance to chemicals in the atmosphere.
 
Health and safety are paramount, not only product suitability but also compliance with lighting standards and design criteria. Lighting in swimming pools has a strong influence on safety and visual comfort.
 
Energy, maintenance and sustainability must be considered, with particular attention to long operating hours, energy efficiency and difficult access to equipment.
